Crews are busy installing netting underneath the aging Pattullo bridge and drivers are being warned of potential delays.
Workers are hanging the netting in six different places under the span.
The netting is supposed to catch falling debris, even through Translink says the 76-year-old bridge is structurally safe.
“This happens with old structures exposed to weather and wind, it’s normal. Other bridges have had to go through the same thing,” says Sany Zein with Translink.
Traffic will be affected, with single lane alternating traffic changes in effect on Front St. starting today and until March 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Drivers are being asked to watch out for workers on the bridge.
