SaskPower and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) have agreed on terms on a new tentative contract, it was announced on Friday.

Terms of the deal have not been released but the new collective agreement will expire at the end of 2011. Workers have been without a contract since the end of 2009.

“We are very pleased to have come to terms on a new collective agreement with IBEW,” said SaskPower President Robert Watson.

IBEW is recommending acceptance of the new deal.

“Our bargaining committee concluded a memorandum of agreement that we feel is fair and will meet the needs of our membership,” said Neil Collins, business manager for IBEW Local 2067.

Details of the agreement will be presented to members and a ratification vote count will take place on July 21st.

IBEW Local 2067 represents more than 1,400 SaskPower employees working in transmission and distribution, safety, metering services and at power plants.
