CALGARY- One Calgary’s longest-serving aldermen has died.
Barb Scott was first elected to council in 1971 and served for 24 years.
She became a crusader for Calgary’s homeless and for abused women. She also received the Order of Canada.
Last summer, a park in the Beltline was renamed in Scott’s honour.
When she learned of the naming of the park, Scott said, “Achievements are only possible when many people work together toward a common aim. To have ‘Barb Scott Park’, in my mind, surpasses the Order of Canada, for while the Order dies with the member, this park will live on long after I am gone.”
