UPDATE: Calgary psychiatrist faces sexual assault charges

WATCH ABOVE: 16×9’s in-depth investigation of earlier criminal charges against Dr. Levin

Jurors in the trial of Calgary Dr. Aubrey Levin began deliberations today on whether the South African-born forensic psychiatrist is guilty of two charges of sexual assault. It’s his second trial on accusations related to work he did with patients, many of whom were sent to him by the courts for sentencing purposes.

The two complainants in this case, who cannot be identified, testified that the 75-year-old Levin touched them improperly during examinations. The doctor was supposed to be treating them for mental health issues

His defence lawyer has said the testimony of the two men cannot be trusted.

Last year, 16×9 broadcast an in-depth investigation of earlier criminal charges against Dr Levin. It also looked into his controversial past in South Africa, where he was known in some circles as “Dr. Shock” for his use of shock therapy in treating young homosexual recruits in the military.
