After public outcry over Internet pricing in Canada, Shaw Communications Inc., the parent company of Global Okanagan, has altered its pricing plans.
Shaw will now double the amount users can download while still paying the same price.
Customers also have the option of signing up for a new broadband package that gives them unlimited data options.
A CRTC proposal earlier in the year would have imposed usage-based Internet billing on customers.
The move prompted consumer outrage and in many cities around the country, including the Okanagan, protests and petitions were organized.
The rollout of Shaw’s new pricing plan comes ahead of CRTC hearings in July on usage-based billing.
