KELOWNA, B.C. – A Saskatchewan man has been identified as the victim caught in an avalanche last Friday near Blue River, in southeast B.C.
Thirty-five-year-old Jay Quayle, of Lloydminster, Sask., was snowmobiling with a group of seven people when the slide came down.

The B.C. Coroner’s Service says the group was in the area known as Red Sands/Duffy’s when Quayle and another man were caught up in the snow slide.
The coroner says others in the party were quickly able to rescue one man uninjured, but they had to dig three metres to find Quayle, who couldn’t be resuscitated.
He is one of eight people killed in avalanches in B.C. and Alberta this month.
