A semi carrying 11,232 kgs of anhydrous ammonia has rolled into a ditch at the intersection of Highways 6 and 15, causing the evacuation of everyone within 2 km of the crash.
RCMP say the tanks carrying the anhydrous ammonia are not punctured but the liquid must be transferred to another tanker before the rolled semi can be flipped back onto its wheels and removed from the ditch.
Police say the transfer could take several hours and all persons within 2 km of the roll over must leave the area while the transfer takes place.
Traffic is being stopped on Highway 6 at Southey and Raymore.
Anhydrous ammonia may be fatal if inhaled, ingested or absorbed through the skin and the vapours are extremely irritating and corrosiove.
