After spending just four nights in an Okanagan hospital, Penticton’s Rita Chretien has been released.
The 56-year-old was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital from Idaho Tuesday night.
Rita and her husband Albert went missing in mid-March.
The Penticton woman was discovered in her van on a remote northern Nevada logging road just over a week ago.
She had survived seven weeks in a van with no real food.
Rita is now recovering at an undisclosed location in Penticton and friends say she is getting stronger.
More than 50 people continue to search the Nevada backcountry for her husband Albert.
He went for help a few days after the couple got stranded and hasn’t been seen since.
