NEWMARKET – York Region police have arrested a 26-year-old man who was wanted on three Canada-wide arrest warrants.
Police say they got a report in January last year about a man who hit a female acquaintance on the head and then stole her cell phone.
They believe the man allegedly did this while under two probation orders which required him to display good behaviour and keep the peace.
Investigators say its believed the man then fled Ontario to avoid arrest.
On Feb 24, investigators say they were told the man was in Surrey, B.C., using an assumed name to evade detection.
Through an investigation with the RCMP, the man was found in Surrey on March 4 and arrested before being brought back to Ontario.
Jaspinderpal Gill, who is also known as Vinnie Sandhu and Amritpal Sidhu, faces multiple charges including assault and disobeying a court order.
Police say they’re concerned the accused may have victimized others.
The investigation is ongoing.
