Investigators in Maple Ridge say a shooting that sent a man to hospital in critical condition appears to have been targeted, and the victim was known to police. Taya Fast reports – Aug 19, 2026

A man has been critically injured in an overnight shooting in the Metro Vancouver community of Maple Ridge.

Police say in a statement that the shooting took place around 10 p.m. Tuesday and they do believe it was targeted.

Officers responding to reports of shots at a home in the 11400 block of 236 Street found the wounded 56-year-old man in a vehicle outside.

Maple Ridge RCMP say its Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

No motive has been determined and no suspect information has been released.

The victim, who is known to police, remains in hospital in critical condition.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has dashcam footage of the area around the time of the attack to contact investigators.
