City councillor Sean Chu has apologized for cursing in a tweet about bicycle counts.
His original tweet on Tuesday morning followed a council debate on a proposed bike lane on 1st Street S.E.
Chu used the tern “b******t” to describe the data presented to council on the number of cyclists using a current bike lane.
He insinuated that a city staff member may have been taking some sort of substance.
Chu deleted the comments later Tuesday morning, after a Twitter backlash.
He issued an apology Tuesday afternoon.
“My comment on Twitter this morning was an error in judgment,” reads the statement. “My communication should have been more appropriate, effective and respectful. “
Global News tried to reach Chu for comment but his office said he would not be available for interviews.
