NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – Saskatchewan RCMP say a child convinced an alleged drunk driver to turn over the keys at a North Battleford mall on Friday.
Around 6:30 p.m., police were called to the parking lot of Frontier Mall for a report of an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance.
A 42-year-old woman jumped into a running vehicle containing several children and attempted to drive away.
Mounties say one of the children convinced her to stop the vehicle and relinquish the keys.
She then fled on foot but was arrested in the area shortly after.
The woman is facing numerous charges including impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, causing a disturbance and theft of a motor vehicle.
She is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Monday.
