A 16-year-old boy who admitted to viciously beating a Mackenzie man with a longboard, will not serve any jail time.
47-year-old Michael Forry spent weeks in a coma after the March 2013 attack outside a Kamloops 7-11. He now lives with a permanent brain injury and is unable to work.
His attacker, who was 15 at the time, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. On Friday Judge Stephen Harrison sentenced the young offender to two years probation. The teen can’t own a skateboard during that time and he will be part of an intervention program.
Forry said he has forgiven the teen and he hopes he will turn his life around.
