“I’m excited to be coaching again at the collegiate level and leading a program so rich in history and success,” said Kelly. “Widener is about winning championships, developing young leaders and serving the community. I look forward to continuing those traditions.”

Kelly was fired following just one season as the Bombers head coach in 2009. The team finished third in the East Division with a 7-11 record. The 56-year-old was also the Bombers’ offensive coordinator from 1992 to 1996.

Kelly has held jobs with the Edmonton Eskimos, the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and New York Giants along with the Orlando Rage of the XFL.
