Ed Greenberg, a spokesperson for Canadian Pacific Railway, says the crossing is equipped with bells, gates, and lights.
“The initial investigation indicates that everything was functioning at the time,” Greenberg said.
He added that it was a southbound work train with one locomotive and two rail cars moving track material for the maintenance crews.
The crew members were not injured in the collision.
