SASKATOON – Saskatoon city council meetings will soon be fewer and farther apart.
Its part of a new governance structure approved Monday night where meetings will take place once a month rather than every second Monday.
The length of the meetings will be extended.

Ward 2 Councillor Pat Lorje voted against the changes, saying one city council meeting per month is not enough and used the pride flag, now flying at city hall, as an example.
“That issue, under this proposed model would have never been able to make it to this table to be discussed because the Olympics would have been over long before we were even able to bring it up,” Lorje said.
Both the Saskatchewan Legislative building and Regina City Hall recently flew a pride flag without political debate.
A majority of councillors voted in favour of the changes effective this May.
