TORONTO – Kathleen Wynne marked her first year as premier of Ontario Tuesday by allowing Reddit users to ask her anything.
And a day after saying there would be no beer or liquor sold in convenience stores, she said on Reddit that the province is looking at “modernizing” alcohol sales.
Some of the participating Reddit users went on to voice their frustration with the Beer Store, which many called a “monopoly.”
Reddit user tracer_ca wrote “the privately owned government sanctioned beer store monopoly is just stupid.”

Wynne is the latest in a long line of celebrities and politicians – including Preston Manning in Nov. 2012 and Barack Obama in Aug. 2012 – to take part in an “Ask Me Anything” or AMA.
The questions ranged from alcohol sales to energy rates to electoral reform and transit. Wynne didn’t answer most of the hundreds of questions asked but did respond that the government is “looking at” ranked balloting in Toronto and planning to introduce a plan to invest in transit across southern Ontario in the upcoming Spring budget.
She did not however answer the famed Reddit question of whether she would fight one horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses. Preston Manning said he would fight the horse-sized duck because he likes horses and “after subduing the horse-sized duck, I would then have an animal which I could fly as well as ride.” Barack Obama did not answer the question.
Wynne did answer what her favourite book was, though she offered two: “The Stone Angel” by Margaret Laurence and “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man” by James Joyce, which she called “one of my all-time favourite books.”

Wynne has been busy traveling across Southern Ontario the past few weeks campaigning in Niagara Falls and Thornhill where byelections will be held Thursday.
The results may play a role in the timing of the next provincial election, however it won’t impact the status of the minority government.
The province is expected to unveil its budget in late March with the focus being on skills training, jobs, infrastructure and help for small businesses.
