DAFOE, Sask. – A Wynyard man has been killed after a crash on Highway 16 near Dafoe, Saskatchewan.

A collision between a westbound semi tractor-trailer unit and an eastbound car happened Monday morning.

The driver of the car was air-lifted by STARS to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Kenny Popowich, 64, succumbed to his injuries at a Regina hospital.

The semi driver was treated at a hospital in Lanigan and has been released.

The semi rolled on its side and blocked the road.

Highway 16 was reopened to traffic around 6 p.m.

An RCMP investigation is ongoing.

Dafoe is approximately 165 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
