Beyond the Podium: Hamelin wins gold, Marie-Michèle Gagnon dislocates shoulder

Canadian Marie-Michèle Gagnon took a tumble in the slalom portion of the Women’s Super Combined event on Monday and dislocated her shoulder.

The 24-year-old from Lac-Etchemin, Quebec, slipped near the top of the course during the slalom, nearly doing the splits and falling forward onto her face. She clutched her left arm and called for help.

Keith Bradford of Alpine Canada told Global News that Gagnon dislocated her shoulder during the fall, but plans to compete again in Sochi.
