Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in the crowd of about 1,500 at the Maurice Richard Arena. He has been to the men’s Brier, but a curling official said it was his first visit to the Scotties.

He is expected to stay for the final Sunday night between Rachel Homan’s Canada squad and Alberta’s Val Sweeting.
