PENTICTON — A Penticton man is in hospital after trying to save a woman from an intruder at a local motel.
The incident happened early Tuesday morning at the Mayfair motel where police responded to a report of a woman being assaulted by a man.
“While on route to the incident, Penticton RCMP received further information that a male had stabbed another male at this same location,” says Sgt. Rick Dellebuur.
The suspect was located in the motel parking lot . He had blood on him.
Police say he’s accused of breaking into the 53-year-old woman’s unit and choking her.

“Her 43-year-old female roommate heard the struggle and came to her aid and they managed to escape the room,” says Dellebuur.
“One of the neighbours, a 40-year-old male, was subsequently stabbed several times by the male intruder,” says Dellebuur.
He says the man who helped the woman has serious but non life threatening injuries.
No names have been released.
