The homeowner of a house destroyed by a fire in Strathcona County on Monday is still missing, RCMP say.
RCMP investigators and emergency services spent all day Tuesday at the scene of the house fire in Winfield Heights south of Sherwood Park.
They say the investigation could take several more days and despite methodically going through remaining debris at the home, no new information is available at this time.
Calls came in to 911 just after midnight Monday reporting a fire in the Winfield Estates area, near Range Road 232 and Township Road 522.
Fire crews arrived to find the single-family home in flames, and because of the rural location, they had to truck in extra water.
It’s expected the home will be a total loss.
The identity of the missing homeowner has not been released.
Police continue to work closely with family and friends in an effort to determine his whereabouts.
