SASKATOON – After three straight losses in the provincial finals, Stefanie Lawton is heading back to represent Saskatchewan at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts this weekend.
2009 was the last time the Lawton represented the province at the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship.
“You are disappointed and you have to take some time to get over that,” Lawton says of the past disappointments
“But we think back to it and it’s like you know what, let’s get up, let’s dust ourselves off and go again because we know that we are capable of playing well and doing well.”
According to second Sherri Singler, getting back to nationals is a relief.

“Losing so many obviously was frustrating and disappointing, so to finally grab that one and come through was very rewarding, but moving forward, knowing that was the first step and there are more ahead,” said Singler.
Dailene Sivertson, who currently plays lead for Amber Holland, has been brought on as Lawton’s alternate for Scotties.
“You can tell they’ve been working hard,” said Sivertson,
“They’ve been playing great and they’ve had great results. I’m so confident at how well they are going to do at the national stage.”
A Saskatchewan rink hasn’t won the Scotties since Amber Holland in 2011.
The previous two Scotties appearances for the Lawton rink resulted in 3-4 page playoff loses.
It is no secret the local foursome is heading to Montreal with one goal in mind.
“It doesn’t really matter what anybody else thinks or expects of us,” says Sherry Anderson, veteran third.
“What we expect of ourselves is to be in the final game come next Sunday. We’ve been there enough before that our number one goal is to win.”
And Stefanie Lawton agrees.
“From our experiences at past Scotties, Olympic Trials, Canada Cups; all of that prepares us for going into this year’s Scotties. We’re going to be as prepared as anybody there and ready to play our very best.”
The 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts begins on Saturday. Saskatchewan’s opening game is against Team Ontario.
