Sooke RCMP have arrested a Victoria man for allegedly attempting to hire someone to commit a murder.
Mounties allege Trevor Charles Porter, 43, attempted to hire a Sooke resident to murder someone in Langford.

The incident was reported to police a week ago and Porter was arrested on Friday.
Officials searched a Langford residence on Saturday and seized an unregistered handgun.
Porter has been charged with counselling to commit an indictable offence, careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Porter was released from custody Wednesday on $25,000 bail and must abide by several conditions.
His next court appearance is set for Feb. 27.
