PICTOU, N.S. – Closing arguments have been presented to the jury in the trial of a Nova Scotia man accused of first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Amber Kirwan.
Defence lawyer Mike Taylor and Crown attorney Bill Gorman laid out their cases to the jury, with both sides asking the jurors to give a common sense analysis of the evidence.

Gorman says while the case is circumstantial, the only logical conclusion based on the evidence is that Christopher Alexander Falconer committed the offence.
Taylor, meanwhile, says there are a number of other plausible explanations that create a reasonable doubt.
The jurors have now been given the weekend off and will receive their final instructions from Nova Scotia Supreme Court Judge Nick Scaravelli on Monday before they begin deliberations.

Kirwan disappeared after leaving a pool hall in downtown New Glasgow in the early hours of Oct. 9, 2011.
Her naked, bound remains were found about a month later in a shallow grave in nearby Heathbell.
