WINNIPEG – A woman has been arrested for theft after police used her false teeth to make a DNA match.

The woman dropped her teeth while fleeing a convenience store robbery, police allege.

The store, in the 800 block of Arlington Street, was robbed at 1:50 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2007 Winnipeg police said in a news release.

The thief, armed with a knife, stole cash from the store.

She dropped her partial plate of false teeth as she fled and police took them for forensic tests.

The suspect had since been arrested for another crime and her DNA entered in a national database. A DNA match was made using genetic material on the false teeth.

The suspect was arrested Wednesday and charged with robbery.
