WINNIPEG – A Stony Mountain prison inmate has been charged with second-degree murder in the 2006 death of Steven Pelletier, 29.
Darrel Lavallee, 32, was arrested Friday at Stony Mountain, where he’s serving a sentence for a 2007 attempted murder.
Pelletier’s family filed a missing persons report about him in November 2006.

Police believe he was killed a month earlier, on Oct. 4, 2006.
Lavallee, an Indian Posse gang member, lured and eventually forced Pelletier into a home in the 500 block of Magnus Avenue, police allege.
He was assaulted and then shot dead, police said.
Lavallee and others took Pelletier’s body to a secluded area outside the city, police said.
They wouldn’t say whether the body had been found.
“Certain details need to be held back,” Const. Jason Michalyshen said.
