1 dead, 3 in hospital after crash closes Hwy 1 west of Kamloops

One person is dead and three others were taken to hospital on Thursday, after a serious two-vehicle crash forced the closure of Highway 1 in both directions, just west of Kamloops, B.C., police say.

DriveBC reported the incident in the Savona area, between Tunkwa Lake Road and Cavesson Way.

Kamloops RCMP said officers were called to the crash around 11 a.m.

BC Emergency Health Services said one person was airlifted to hospital, and two others were transported by ground ambulance.

It was not immediately clear how seriously the crash victims were injured.

DriveBC said the road reopened around 9 p.m. on Thursday.
