City of Saskatoon to clear snow from residential streets

SASKATOON – Starting Monday, graders will be clearing snow from residential streets across Saskatoon to stop the formation of ruts.

The City’s Director of Public Works Pat Hyde says the unseasonably warm weather can accelerate the development of ruts so the city is being proactive to reduce the formation.

“Not all streets are rutted right now and we know that but as a snow pack develops and becomes deeper the potential for those ruts can become deep ruts is very real so we’re getting ahead of the game,” Hyde said.

This approach is part of the increased level of service for snow management through the new dedicated road levy funding.

Multiple two-grader crews will clear roads throughout the week that are not already designated on the priority street network.

In order to more efficient, city officials are asking for vehicles to be removed from designated streets. Signage will be posted 36 hours in advance.

“It is the whole neighborhood that’s being done and we are doing parking enforcement and a relocation tow for vehicles that we do have to move out of the way in order to do the job,” Hyde said.

Drivers can find their vehicle with the Find My Vehicle application or by calling 306-975-2476.

  • Monday – Montgomery and Willowgrove
  • Tuesday – Silverwood Heights and Wildwood
