CFIA recalls ham product in B.C. and Alberta

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling a ham product due to a possible listeria contamination.

The product is labelled as Hickory Smoked Spiral Sliced Ham and distributed in British Columbia and Alberta under the brand of Ripple Creek Farm.

A best before date of Feb. 13 is listed on the product.

Listeria is a type of bacteria that can can give humans food poisoning when ingested.

Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable.

The agency says there have been no illnesses reported from consumption of the ham.
