Const. Claude Chancy told 680 CJOB that reports first started coming in around 6:30 a.m., which led to warnings to the public to avoid the area around the Allen Building out of an abundance of caution.

Chancy said the investigation has been taken over by the major crimes unit, and that police don’t believe there’s a threat to public safety any longer.

“That investigation, of course, is in its infancy,” he said.

“We’re going to look at every possible angle on what may have occurred here, (but) we have determined there’s no longer a threat to public safety as far as this male in the building.”
