Conservation service says on Monday they were forced to destroy one of the cougars seen on a beach in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast last week.
The young cougar, believed to be about a year old, was one of the ‘kits’ that Greg and Mary Carter saw from their waterside home.
It was shot by a conservation officer on Monday.

Conservation officer Dean Miller says it is likely the three were a family unit, although the kits were almost fully grown.
Conservation received a call on Monday that a resident of Roberts Creek had seen a cougar walk past their home and out onto their road.
When he arrived he found the cougar near the Waldorf Elementary School.
He thinks it was one of the kits seen in the photos last week because it was similar in size and behaviour, and when young cougars leave their mother they often follow a route their mother had previously taken them on.
Miller says he did not see the other two cougars, and he believes this is because the youngsters had left their mother.
There is no relocation program for cougars and they are considered difficult to relocate and rehabilitate.
