The TTC has trimmed its list of bus routes facing cutbacks from 48 to 41, and reinstated partial service on another 19 lines.
Following a series of public consultations, the transit agency says it has revised the criteria by which it judges what routes are not performing well enough to maintain.
The routes that won’t be touched are 122 Graydon Hall, 110 Islington South, 130 Middlefield, 48 Rathburn, 78 St. Andrews, 60 Steeles West, and 55 Warren Park. Transit staff appear to have heard the pleas from members of a roller derby league, that rely on the Downsview Park bus to get to practice. Staff are proposing to cancel the bus on weekdays from September to May, instead of completely.
The Toronto Transit Commission will decide the fate of the 41 routes at its meeting Wednesday.
The proposed changes means that TTC will save $4-million, instead of $7-million. The agency said it intended the use the money later in the year to boost service on overcrowded lines.
