Saskatoon Blades drop exciting game to the Calgary Hitmen

SASKATOON – Jake Virtanen scored twice in the third period to lift the Calgary Hitmen to its seventh straight win with a 6-4 victory over the Saskatoon Blades.

Brady Brassart, Pavel Padakin, Adam Tambellini and Zane Jones also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Hitmen (29-8-5).

Nikita Scherbak scored twice for the Blades (12-29-4), with Ryan Graham and Brett Stovin adding one each.

Calgary’s Mack Shields finished with 33 saves, while Saskatoon’s Troy Trombley had a 46-save performance ruined.

The Blades are back in action on Friday when they travel to Swift Current to take on the Broncos.
