Saskatoon Blades trade captain to Prince Albert Raiders

SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Blades have traded their captain to the Prince Albert Raiders in a deal announced Wednesday.

Raiders have acquired 20 year-old Graeme Craig, along with a 7th round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft and a 5th round selection in 2016.

Craig is from Red Deer, Alberta and is in his fifth year in the WHL. The 6’5” defenceman has appeared in 303 career games with 10 goals and 54 assists.

“Graeme has been a true leader as a member of the Saskatoon Blades,” said Lorne Molleken, Blades general manager.

In return, the Blades have acquired MacKenzie Johnston, Tyler Dea along with a 3rd and 5th round pick in 2015.

Johnston, 20, is a Saskatchewan boy is in his 5th WHL season, putting up 46 points in 269 regular season games.

Rookie Dea has played 11 games so far this season with the Raiders. He’s 18-years-old and is from Alberta.

Both defencemen are expected to dress Wednesday as the Blades host the Calgary Hitmen at 7 p.m.

The Blades are in second last place in the WHL eastern conference.
