TORONTO — Canada’s Stana Katic and Kristin Kreuk were among the winners Wednesday night at the People’s Choice Awards.
Katic, from Hamilton, Ont., was named Favourite Dramatic TV Actress for her work on Castle and Kreuk, a Vancouver native, won Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress for Beauty and the Beast.
Beauty and the Beast and Reign — both shot in Toronto — were also winners.
Made-in-Toronto movie Carrie earned Favourite Horror Movie.
None of these categories were announced on the live broadcast, which was hosted by Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs.
The night’s first winner was Sandra Bullock, who accepted the prizes for Favourite Movie Actress in two categories — Comedic (The Heat) and Dramatic (Gravity).
Gravity was also selected as the Favourite Dramatic Movie. Bullock and co-star George Clooney were named Favourite Movie Duo.
Favourite Album was awarded to The 20/20 Experience by Justin Timberlake, who also won Favourite Male Artist.

Ellen DeGeneres won her 14th People’s Choice Award for hosting her eponymous daytime talk show.
“I treasure this because it is from the people,” DeGeneres said. “There’s no better thing than knowing that you are making people happy. I love making people happy.”
Favourite New Talk Show Host honours went to Queen Latifah, whose show airs on Global.
“It’s been the toughest thing in my life and the best thing in my life,” Latifah said of the show.

The winner of Favourite Late Night Talk Show Host was Stephen Colbert.
The broadcast included performances by Sara Bareilles, country singer Brad Paisley and OneRepublic.
The Voice won Favourite Competition TV Show.
Pregnant Drew Barrymore gave the Favourite Comedic Movie Actor award to Adam Sandler.
“It means the world to me how nice you guys have been to me over the years,” said Sandler, who already has three People’s Choice Awards.
Favourite Action Movie Star was Robert Downey Jr., who beat Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman and Vin Diesel. Iron Man 3 was named Favourite Action Movie.
Fans chose The Good Wife as their Favourite Network TV Drama over Nashville, Grey’s Anatomy, Chicago Fire and Parenthood.
The Good Wife star Josh Charles, currently on his honeymoon in Thailand, was named Favourite Dramatic TV Actor.
Favourite Comedic Movie honours went to The Heat.
Shemar Moore flirted with recently-separated Malin Akerman (“My grandmother was French-Canadian. I hear you’re Canadian,” he said. “Just saying”) before handing over the trophy for Favourite On Screen Chemistry to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Toronto-raised Nina Dobrev) of The Vampire Diaries.
Canada continued to be represented when Toronto’s Stephen Amell of the made-in-Vancouver series Arrow came out on stage with Heidi Klum to name Britney Spears the Favourite Pop Artist.
The winner in the Favourite Comedic TV Actress category was Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory (which won Favourite Network TV Comedy).
“This is the second best thing to happen to me this year,” said Cuoco, who married Ryan Sweeting on New Year’s Eve.
Chris Colfer picked up the Favourite Comedic TV Actor trophy for his work on Glee.
Sarah Michelle Gellar (The Crazy Ones) accepted the Favourite Actress in a New TV Series.
Non-televised winners included Joseph Morgan (Actor in a New TV Series), The Walking Dead (Cable TV Drama), Lucy Hale (Cable TV Actress), Ian Somerhalder (Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor), Rachel and Santana (TV Gal Pals) and Orange is the New Black (Streaming Series).
The night’s winners also included Leonardo DiCaprio, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and One Direction.
Jennifer Hudson was honoured with a special award for her humanitarian work by LL Cool J. “Jennifer Hudson is strong. She’s a fighter, she’s a survivor, and the work she’s doing is changing lives,” he explained.
The People’s Choice Awards, owned by Procter & Gamble, are determined by public voting and the winners are notified prior to the show. Over 700 million votes were cast this year.
