The stabbing happened at a home in Riverside, a neighbourhood in the west side of the city directly north of Edmonton.

RCMP said officers responded at 10 p.m. and arrived to find two teenage girls, aged 17 and 13, both suffering from multiple stab wounds. The older of the two girls is in critical condition, but RCMP said the younger is also not doing well.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a grey 2010 Mazda 3S.

Kaj Alexander Randall, 28, was arrested by the Edmonton Police Service and was awaiting a bail hearing Saturday afternoon.
