SYDNEY, N.S. – A jury is expected to begin deliberating Wednesday in the case of a Cape Breton man charged with assaulting an off-duty police officer.
Donald James Campbell of Sydney is charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The 31-year-old is alleged to have assaulted Const. Wade Lavin, an officer with the Cape Breton Regional Police, outside a bar in June 2008.
The jury of eight men and four women is scheduled to hear final instructions from Supreme Court Justice Patrick Murray on Wednesday.
The jury has heard testimony from 10 witnesses.
