Staying active in Saskatoon during frigid weather

SASKATOON – Days like Thursday are the perfect opportunity to make the best of it and enjoy the outdoors. Sometimes, we forget what Saskatoon has to offer when we’re trapped indoors by the cold.

The average temperature for the month of December was minus 20, without the windchill.

“If I see people wondering what to do because it’s so cold outside, I usually try to give them some suggestions even if it is to bundle up and go skating or go for a walk go see outside especially a day when the hoar frost is beautiful,” said Alexandra Stang from Tourism Saskatoon.

Some days are harder than others in wanting to leave the house. It  can get pretty cold but you don’t always have to rely on outdoor activities in the winter.

“North America’s largest indoor street and hang out on Boomtown at the Western Development Museum and there’s always lots of different little things to do in there,” Stand said.

“The Mendel Art Gallery is another option, especially if you want to see some greenery, you could go to the conservatory there. And the university has lots of museums like the John G. Diefenbaker Canada Centre.”

Because of the frigid temperatures, it’s easy to forget there are things to do year round.
