CALGARY – A close call at a popular holiday attraction in Airdrie is prompting changes.
On Sunday, the miniature holiday train that tours around the Airdrie Festival of Lights hit a stroller, hurting the 4-year-old boy inside.
The train was travelling along a pathway shared with pedestrians at the time, but father Dustin Doyle says snow covering part of the pathway limited available space.
The boy, named Ronin, has autism and is non-verbal so his family has been very concerned about the impact the incident had on him.
His father says he seems to be recovering well, but they are keeping a close eye on him.
The Airdrie Festival of Lights board members say they are very concerned about the incident, and have since closed down the section of the pathway where this incident happened.
They also plan to reassess their snow removal procedures.
