HALIFAX – A military cop in Halifax will stand trial next summer for aggravated assault.

Christopher Michael Vining, 24, of Timberlea appeared in Nova Scotia Supreme Court on Thursday.

A trial that will be heard by a judge without a jury will begin July 18.

Vining was off duty last Feb. 28 when he allegedly got into a fight with a man in the Pizza Corner area of downtown Halifax.

Sean LeBlanc was seriously injured after he was knocked down and hit his head.

After his arrest, Vining was suspended from active police work at Canadian Forces Base Halifax and had to surrender his badge.
