In an email to CJOY, police said the investigation is due to the discovery of a suspicious package.

Earlier in the morning, officers received a call from staff at the Canada Post distribution Centre after a suspicious package was found.

In a post on X, among the streets closed is Woodlawn Road from Dawson to the Hanlon. Several businesses in the area have been evacuated as well.

Waterloo regional police’s explosive disposal unit assisted local authorities with the investigation.

Investigators later confirmed the package in question was not deemed to be suspicious and there was no threat to public safety.

The investigation concluded before 12p.m. and police said the roads in the area were reopened.
