Snow falling across Metro Vancouver is making today’s commute challenging, with many transit changes underway.

Environment Canada says the back edge of the snow band is now making its way through the South Coast.

Some lingering flurries are expected later today, followed by drizzle and snow grains.

If you are driving or catching a bus this morning, you are advised to give yourself lots of extra time.

There are lots of delays for bus service throughout Metro Vancouver.

Road conditions heading to SFU are especially bad, but service has partially resumed.

#135 (Burrard/ SFU) and #144 (Metrotown/SFU) service is terminating at the bottom of Burnaby Mountain Parkway. The Parkway has become impassable and crews are attending. If you are heading to SFU, the best option is to take the #145 from Production Station.

Northbound on Knight Street is very slippery, the #22 (Knight/MacDonald) service is detouring until crews can clear and salt. Service on the #22 line is experiencing delays as a result.

All bus service on the #41 and #43 line have returned to regular route and are servicing Joyce SkyTrain Station.

#27 (Kootenay Loop/Joyce Station) service has been detoured off of Wellington Ave (between Joyce and Rupert) due to icy conditions.

A tree has fallen on our Trolley Overhead wires at Fraser St and 33rd in Vancouver. Buses are able to get by, but it is a slower go for the #8 (Fraser/Downtown).

#20 (Victoria/Downtown) is still terminating at 54th and Victoria (54th Loop) while a shuttle service will connect 54th Loop to Harrison Loop.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

#16 (29th Ave Stn/Arbutus) is terminating at Boundary Loop off Broadway and is unable to make it all the way to 29th Ave Station due to road conditions.

Translink says transit drivers are using extreme caution in Surrey, where it is snowing very heavily.

HandyDART is running only for essential services in all locations.

Tranlink says the best option this morning is to take Skytrain that is, so far, operating full service with no delays.
