EDMONTON – The City of Edmonton says roadway maintenance crews will start neighbourhood blading at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday.

You can find out exactly when your street will be cleared by using the City’s updated online residential blading schedule.

Edmonton’s third parking ban of the season was lifted on Monday afternoon, after being put in place Saturday morning.

During that time, city crews were focused on clearing bus, collector, and arterial routes.

However, residents have been voicing concerns about windrows along bus routes, but the City says removing those will have to wait.

“There [are] some areas along the arterial roadways where we got the pinch points – where you’re coming down to a narrowing – that we’ve got to deal with. And we’ve got to go over our bridges again,” said Edmonton roadway maintenance director Bob Dunford.

“We had removed the snow on the major bridges, but we’re noting that there is a build up again.”

All the snow has been hard on the city’s snow removal budget, which is estimated to come to $60 million for 2013.

“I would say we’re going to be in the range of $10 million over budget,” said Dunford. “To the end of last week, we’ve moved over 300,000 cubic metres of snow off the roads already to our snow sites – that’s a lot more than we normally would this time of year.”

By the end of Sunday, bylaw officers had issued 1,080 tickets – at $50 apiece – to people who did not comply with the seasonal parking ban.
