Waterloo regional police are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred in the Idlewood area of Kitchener, Ont. on Thursday morning.
On Thursday afternoon, police said a 28-year-old man had been found dead outside of a home on Gray Street, shortly after 9 a.m.
Police initially issued a social media post at 9:25 a.m. which said that they were investigating a shooting near Gray Street and Casey Drive.

A short time later, police said that a man was injured, before a police spokesperson told Global News that he had succumbed to his injuries.
Police believe that the shooting was “targeted” and declared it to be a homicide on Thursday afternoon.
As police initially responded to the shooting, six schools in the area were placed under a hold and secure: Grand River Collegiate Institute, Chicopee Hills Public School, Lackner Woods Public School, Stanley Park Public School and Saint John Paul II School and St. Daniel Catholic Elementary School.
The hold and secures at the schools were lifted at around 11 a.m.
Police say they are continuing their investigation and are asking residents to check for any video from doorbell or security cameras which may have footage connected to the incident.
