The city announced the closure through a social media post on Wednesday night.

“This includes the mailroom, transit lost and found space, as well as development services such as permits, licensing and taxation inquiries,” city officials said in a Facebook post.

In a news release, the city explained a leak was discovered late Wednesday “that affected the second and third floors.”

The city said it’s working to reopen in-person services as soon as possible, aiming for the first week of the new year.

“In the meantime, most services continue to be offered online, by phone or email. Edmontonians are encouraged to use these alternate options, and to contact 311 for inquiries through the phone and app.

“Edmontonians typically use the Service Centre for purchasing Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) tickets and passes, Ride Transit Program passes, parking and bylaw ticket payments and the ETS Lost and Found,” the city said.
