A 16-year-old girl is in hospital after being struck down on the street in South Surrey tonight.
At approximately 6 p.m. the teen was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk in front of Elgin Secondary School when she was hit by a pick-up truck.
According to witnesses, she was wearing dark clothing and had just stepped into traffic when the accident happened.
The girl suffered head injuries but was conscious and talkative as she was stabilized on scene by paramedics and then transported by air ambulance to hospital.
