Fire shuts down Selkirk Avenue on Monday morning: Winnipeg police

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is investigating after a fire swept through a two-storey house on Monday morning.

Crews were called to the fire at 7:42 a.m., which took over a vacant home in the 1000 block of Selkirk Avenue. According to officials, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the house. Crews were unable to enter the structure.

The fire was declared under control at 9:18 a.m. The building, officials said, is considered to be at a complete loss with its structural integrity compromised. Arrangements are being made for it to be demolished.

Neighbouring residents were evacuated as a precaution and no injuries were reported.
