A sex offender whose release from jail prompted a warning from the Edmonton Police Service just five days ago has been rearrested for breaching his conditions.

In February, David Adams, 28, was convicted on two counts of indecent acts after he was found masturbating in a vehicle while following women who were students at the University of Alberta and NAIT campuses.

He was released on April 14 with probation conditions but was arrested just two days later and charged with two counts of criminal harassment and a breach.

In a news release on Oct. 19, police said Adams most recently served time in jail for one count of failing to comply with probation conditions from the April incident where he “approached two young females near an elementary school in west Edmonton while driving his vehicle.”

EPS said he would be living somewhere in Edmonton and was subject to court-ordered conditions that include being banned from parks, pools, daycares, schools and playgrounds.

Police said they were issuing a warning in the interest of public safety and under the authority of the FOIP Act.

On Monday, Adams was rearrested after he was witnessed allegedly using a computer at a downtown library in breach of his conditions.

Edmonton police said as officers were escorting Adams to the cruiser, he broke free and allegedly attempted to flee, but was quickly re-apprehended.

He has been charged with two breaches of probation and escaping lawful custody, police said Tuesday.

Adams remains in custody and his next court date is Oct. 31.
