The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating after the death of a male in Surrey Saturday.
It happened at 91st Street and 147A Street around 4:30 this morning.
Police were called about a bad fight that was raging inside the house.
When officers arrived, they located close to 50 people in the home’s basement suite, which appears to have been used as an after-hours party place.
Two people were found injured.
They were taken to hospital. One has since died, the other is in critical condition.
Police say three to five men were seen fleeing the scene and they are now looking for any potential suspects.
Neighbours have been complaining for months about loud parties at what’s been described as an afterhours booze can.
This is not the first time police have been called to the house on 147A street.
In June of 2012, a man was shot outside the residence, but he survived the attack.
The house is also well known to the city. The owner has been cited several times for bylaw infractions.
The death is Surrey’s 23rd homicide of the year. It comes just five days after the last murder and on the heels of the announcement by mayor Dianne Watts to launch a special task force to look into the city’s high homicide rate.
